Martha Stewart Weddings

I’m excited to announce that Admire Design was chosen to be the featured designer for Envelopments® representing Connecticut in the winter 2010 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings! How awesome is that? The magazine is celebrating their 15th anniversary, plus Envelopments® is turning 15! A double birthday, congrats!

The ad debuts a brand new design “Claire & Diego” which you can view in detail here. The suite features a warm and inviting color palette of Coriander and Pyrite, accented with Serpentine, Chrysophase, Navajo, Aquamarine and a hint of White Micah. The Art Nouveau inspired graphics swirl around the playful Adios Script by Alejandro Paul. When assembled, the Save the Date sits halfway inside a Portable Pocket®, concealing the wording until you slide it out and, surprise!

I also want to point out how both pieces from the “Claire & Diego” design are printed on non-neutral stocks! I just love the way color is used here. The Save the Date is printed on Serpentine stock and the Wedding Invitation is on Aquamarine stock. Envelopments® offers a wide range of very pale colors that can be used to print on. I think it’s a very clever way to bring a unique look to your invitation set instead of using the traditional white or ecru. Like this idea? Here’s a list of pale neutrals you can coordinate into your design: Casaba, Blush Pink, Powder Blue, Aquamarine, Serpentine, Luster, Coral and Zinc! View the colors here.

Jennifer & Robert – August 29, 2009

“If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee.”
- Anne Bradstreet

Inspired by their love of classic literature and Victorian style, Jennifer and Robert were married on August 29, 2009 in a romance-filled ceremony at First United Methodist Church in Middletown, CT. Their reception was held at picturesque Saint Clement’s Castle in Portland, CT.  When I first met with Jennifer and Robert, (over cups of Earl Grey tea) they expressed their wedding style as: Victorian, Antique, Old World, Renaissance, and English Country Garden. They wanted their invitations to evoke these romantic sentiments. We decided to create a monogram design accented with swirly leaves and vines. Jennifer and Robert’s color choices were deep purples, whites, creams and accents of silver. We chose to make the invitations with a 7×7 Pocket Fold® in Huckleberry*, with layers of Diamond Repousse, Platinum and Diamond stocks. The typefaces Jennifer and Robert chose are Chanson d’Amour and FF Scala. (Aptly named, “Chanson d’Amour” means “Love Song” in French.) With it’s rough edges, this script feels hand-written and brings a more vintage feel to the type treatment.

Once the invitations were mailed out, Jennifer and I talked about her and Rob’s ideas for the wedding day stationery. We designed a simple 5×7 folded program for the ceremony, accented with a hand-tied satin bow in Violet. Are you wondering about that quote above? Robert spent time compiling a collection of classic quotes about love to inspire their table name design! Jennifer and Robert decided to name their tables after their favorite authors, and we displayed a meaningful quote of love on each card. For the corresponding escort cards, each guest was told not what table to sit at, but which author to sit with! Jennifer and Robert enjoyed their reception at their sweetheart table, sitting only with each other of course.

A big thank you to J.C. from J.C. Carley Photography who photographed Jennifer & Robert’s wedding. She did an amazing job and has graciously provided me with the detail shots below of the program, menu cards, table names and Jen & Rob’s special escort card. Jennifer & Robert’s design was inspired by elements in the Emaline & Jordan design on our site.
